Daniil Medvedev Defeated by Novak Djokovic in US Open Final

Medvedev Falls Short in Bid for First Grand Slam Title

Djokovic Extends Record with 24th Grand Slam Win

In a thrilling match that lasted over four hours, Daniil Medvedev was defeated by Novak Djokovic in the final of the US Open. Medvedev, who was seeking his first Grand Slam title, fought valiantly but was ultimately unable to overcome the experienced Djokovic.

Djokovic, playing in his 31st Grand Slam final, was simply too strong for Medvedev on this day. The Serbian star broke Medvedev's serve six times and saved 10 of the 11 break points he faced. He also hit 38 winners to Medvedev's 19.

Medvedev, who had reached the US Open final for the first time in his career, played well in patches but was unable to maintain his level of play throughout the match. He made too many unforced errors and was unable to convert his break point opportunities. In the end, Djokovic was simply the better player on the day.

With the win, Djokovic extends his record for Grand Slam titles to 24, moving him one ahead of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. He is now just one Grand Slam title away from tying the all-time record held by Margaret Court.
